How to Clean a Bathroom: The Steps Are Surprisingly Easy
This post will cover how to clean a bathroom.

I had to add Buddy. Look at that face!
I’m not going to lie—cleaning the bathroom is one of my least favorite tasks, but it has to be done! You can try to avoid it, but that just means that the task will become more difficult, so let’s pull off the bandaid and get down to the dirty!
This post provides the best steps for how to clean a bathroom.
Bathroom Cleaning
I know this next bit can be difficult with little ones running around, but the first thing you want to do is maintain a tidy bathroom. What’s the difference between clean and tidy? The term tidy lends itself to the idea that everything is visually neat looking.
To accomplish this, be sure to put away your products after you use them. I put away my makeup and straightener each day, thus removing all of the visual clutter from the countertops.
Each item in the bathroom has to have a home. This helps keep the bathroom clutter-free.
By setting this habit, I’ve tackled one of the first steps to cleaning my bathroom.

Steps for Bathroom Cleaning
Declutter
This can be done as stated above, but you should also periodically go through your cabinets and get rid of expired products or ones that you don’t use anymore.
This is also a good opportunity to empty out all cabinets or drawers and give them a good wipe down.

Clean Countertops
Wipe down Counter surfaces: Starting from top to bottom, take the time to dust and wipe down all wooden elements in your bathroom. Then, move onto the surfaces. Remove everything from your countertops and spray a cleaner that is appropriate for the countertop’s material.

Scrub that Toilet
Ah, the dreaded toilet—it’s a necessary evil. If you don’t like the idea of touching the toilet, invest in rubber gloves. There are also products like the Clorox toilet wand that is a game changer. Start with a good disinfecting cleaner and wipe down the toilet from top to bottom.
Don’t forget to wipe down the seat and pop open the back of the seat where it attaches to the toilet. You’d be surprised what build-up you will find in there.
Scrub the inside of the toilet. Leave the cleaning product in the water for at least 5 minutes before flushing. If you are using a wand or toilet brush, you can prop it under the toilet seat and let it drip excess water into the toilet until it’s easier to move.

Make that Mirrors Shine
Wipe down the mirrors with mirror-specific cleaning products. I love Sprayway Glass Cleaner for its smell and streakless performance.
If you have windows in the bathroom, wipe them down and open them for some fresh air.
Give the Shower/Bathtub Some Love
Start by scrubbing all walls and the tub fixture. Be sure to use the appropriate cleaning materials to protect the surface of your tub. This will vary depending on whether you have acrylic or porcelain or tile.
The goal is to disinfect and remove soap scum buildup. You should pay special attention to grout lines because they can harbor bacteria which can turn to mold.
If you have glass doors to your shower, using a squeegee daily helps reduce visual buildup of soap scum and hard water deposits. It is also a helpful addition to you cleaning materials for when you do your more thorough cleaning.
If you have a shower curtain, take the time to clean it and replace any liner needed.

How to Clean a Bathroom Floor
It’s time to vacuum and mop the floors. You first want to sweep and vacuum to pick up any loose debris before mopping.
Use a disinfectant. Depending on the size of your space, it may be easier to scrub the floor on your hands and knees. Make sure to get into corners, under heating units, and behind raised cabinets.
Any bathroom rugs should be washed and air-dried.
