7 Cozy Fall Home Ideas That Will Transform Your Home
Fall is by far my favorite season, and I’m not alone. According to a 2024 Rasmussen report, 39% of Americans agree.

Between nature’s beauty and relief from the hot weather, it makes total sense.
I have to admit, it’s also the season that I get most excited to embrace because of the cozy. The cooler temperatures and shorter days make us all want to nest at home, so why not make it the coziest it can be, so you can enjoy it alone and with friends! Check out these 7 fall home ideas that you can use today to make your come cozy ready.
Fall Must Haves
Whether you are hosting friends or just want to enjoy an evening at home with the family, these seven fall must haves will help you embrace the warmth and comfort of the season.
Luxurious Blanket
“My name is Nicole, and I have a blanket problem.”
Nothing screams fall comfort like engulfing yourself in a soft, warm blanket. There are so many styles and textures, so it’s easy to find one (or ten) that is perfect for snuggling up and adds to your room decor.
Chunky Knit Throws: The perfect throw for draping over chairs to set the tone for fall cozy. Choose neutral tones like oatmeal or cream or celebrate autumn colors.
Wool or Cashmere Blankets: These are timeless. I’ve had my cashmere blanket for 21 years, and it looks the same as the day I bought it. If you’re looking to style your room for fall, choose a gorgeous plaid throw; it’ll keep you warm while also bringing those fall vibes.
Faux Fur: These are my addiction. I can’t walk by one in a store without running my hands over it. Being wrapped up in one of these ultra-soft blankets is the epitome of cozy. But, I must warn you, your kids and dog will want to be under the blanket with you!
If you’re blanket crazy like I am, add a beautiful blanket ladder for easy access and a beautiful display of your collection.

Candles
If you love your house to smell good, candles are one of the fastest ways to do just that. There is nothing better than the warm smells that are associated with fall: pumpkin spice, warm clove and cinnamon scents, and the list goes on.
Candles help build that warm, inviting space that makes you want to cuddle up on the couch and spend time with your family.
Quality matters when adding candles to your fall decor. Soy or beeswax candles burn cleanly and evenly, last longer, and don’t give off the black soot that less expensive paraffin candles can leave behind.

Slippers
Obviously, slippers won’t style your home in a fall way, but they are the perfect addition to your fall living.
Switch out of shoes, and keep your feet warm in cozy slippers. The right pair can make your at-home experience feel more luxurious.
Sheepskin/shearling slippers are warm and breathable. If you are looking for warmth but don’t want to sweat, you may find these the perfect solution.
Memory foam slippers work well if you’re looking for something with a little more cushioned comfort.
If you plan on wearing them while working around the house and standing, I recommend grabbing a pair that has a sturdy platform to protect your feet.
If you like to be a bit extra, try keeping a basket of disposable house slippers for guests. This is a thoughtful way to make visitors feel welcome in your house (especially if you have a no shoe policy).

Get cozy with the perfect slippers.
Outdoor Bistro Lights
We keep our lights hanging throughout the four seasons, and it can be beautiful to see them lit up with turned leaves dancing across the patio. Give those last few warmer autumn evenings on the patio a magical touch.
Warm White LED lights will have that golden tint to them which creates that cozy atmosphere. Cool white LED lights are much whiter and have a very different look. Be sure to select the right ones. I didn’t do so when getting our Christmas lights, and it changed the vibe completely.
Installation can take many approaches. Before we redid our siding, we put hooks into the sides of our house, but now we don’t.
You can attach them to trees or search for cute ways to string bistro lights. We went straight to Amazon (like we do for most of our solutions), and bought these stakes. We’ve had them for over four years, and they work beautifully.
Weather-resistant is a must. Be sure to grab bistro lights that are meant for the outdoors!

Autumn Hosting Essentials
Being a girl who runs hot, I love the idea of hosting in the fall. Plus, the season has so many reasons to get together with friends and family.
Between game day gatherings and dinner parties, you can plan for something every weekend. That means that having all of the right hosting essentials matters.
Warming appliances like crockpots and heating pads are super helpful to keep fall dishes warm while hosting.
Outdoor heating solutions are a great compliment to the bistro lights. We love our dining and conversation sets because both have gas fire pits that warm us up while also adding to the atmosphere. If you don’t have those, grab a heating tower, my sister swears by hers.

Coffee or hot chocolate stations bring the cool weather vibes with them. Dress them up for the holidays with different mugs or keep them flowing with your kitchen’s color scheme. It’s welcoming for guests and a cute little design addition to honor the season.
Seasonal Pillow Covers
When I first purchased an accent pillow set, I thought I had to buy a whole pillow and that can get a little pricey. Then I met pillow covers.
Pillow covers allow you to change your room’s theme with little effort and cost, but the impact can be huge.
Seasonal pillow covers can be overtly seasonal with pumpkins and cornucopias, or you can add a subtle nod to the season with warm colors, plaids, and heavier fabrics.
Rich autumn colors like burgundy, orange, and warm browns can give those fall vibes quickly. Consider the colors of your couch and primary decor, then add some notes of fall color through your accessories (more to come on this)!
Consider pillow textures to lean in on the fall vibes. Beautiful cable knit or furry pillows can create a warm charm that makes everyone feel comfy.
Seasonal patterns like pumpkins, leaves, and traditional plaid make the fall styles perfect.
The best part is that you can bring them out year after year. Store unused pillow covers in a breathable bag, and you’re prepared for next season.
Below, you can see how this simple change can make a difference.

Fall Inspired Decor
Add fall tchotchkes both indoors and out to celebrate the season. The best way to add these little touches is by enhancing your existing style instead of having it overwhelm your space. Even though it’s a seasonal piece, let it blend into your style, so it feels intentional.
Natural elements are a great addition to your fall decor. Whether you choose to go outside and gather pinecones, grab some real branches from Trader Joe’s, or order from Amazon some faux stems, adding what we love most (nature’s colors) to your decor is a perfect way to honor the season.
Adding items like cinnamon sticks or dried orange slices is also a fun way to infuse fall style into your home.
Metallic accents like bronze, copper, and gold compliment fall’s natural color palette, so finding cute decorations in these metals is both timeless and classic.

Fall wreaths of varying fall leaves or accented with pumpkins are a favorite among many. As I said in this post about fall porch decorating here, be careful adding them outside because bats want to set up shop in them (or at least ours).
Group your items together to create a cute nod to the season. Anchor some of your decorations with a tray and use odd numbers, varying heights, and a mix of products to follow your style rules (like I describe in this post).
Fall Ideas For Home
Style your home with the beauty of fall in a way that you love. The season really embodies the warmth we crave as the nights get cooler. Layering the elements listed above will turn your home into a fall haven.
If it’s too much to do in one year, that’s fine! Start now with what you want to add and grow your collection throughout the years.
If you’re a planner, you can even add to your collection at the end of the season when stores have these seasonal items on discount!
Remember, the goal isn’t to completely redecorate your home but instead to incorporate seasonal touches into your already existing style. It doesn’t matter if you love modern minimalism, farmhouse rustic, or anything else. There are plenty of decor items to fall in love with.
