I’m sad to see summer leave us, but I’m looking forward to fall. I’m not alone. A majority of Americans feel that fall is the best season.

What’s not to love? Nature creates this gorgeous landscape that is perfect for family photos, some of our favorite warm flavors are back, and sweater weather celebrates our love of cozy. 

If you’re looking to celebrate this season by decorating your porch, don’t get overwhelmed by the Instagram porches.

Some of the best places to find affordable fall decor include Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and HomeGoods. Big box stores like Target and Walmart also offer really great selections.

I love going to Costco to look at their autumn flowers because they offer a gorgeous selection and are inexpensive. That isn’t the only place I’ve gone for plants! Whole Foods and Lidl are other great places to look for autumn plants.

Thrifty Tip: If you’re on a steep budget, see what you can gather from a walk in nature to help create your fall entry. Trim off some evergreen branches and use those in your decor!

Nature is what you’re celebrating anyway, so it makes sense. 

Maintenance and Weather Considerations

Whether or not your porch is covered should be considered when determining what materials and items you incorporate into your design. 

Figure out what works for your situation! I love wreaths, but I cannot put them up! Each time I’ve done so, a bat tries to make a home! While it leads to some pretty funny Ring videos, it scares the heck out of us every time we open the door.

Pillows and soft layering rugs might not withstand the elements well on an uncovered porch, and it’s better to use easy to wash and wipe items (like plastic pumpkins and faux plants). 

When you have a covered porch, you have a greater range of what you can do to liven up your front porch this fall.
