2. Facebook Marketplace: This is one of my favorite first stops before I go shopping. Perfect for furniture and gym equipment.

  • What you’ll find: Pretty much everything! I have gotten lamps, tables, and workout equipment and sold many things, too.
  • Prices are negotiable, and oftentimes, a great place to find a wonderful addition to your decor. You can even search for items listed as "free.”
  • A good tip is to play with the location and “shop” different towns near you. There can be name-brand furniture for amazing pricing if you play around with the search.

I bought this $300 side table for $30 on Facebook Market.

3. Facebook Groups: This is different from the Marketplace. If you join a Facebook group, you can always find items tailored to the type of group it is.

  • You can join groups based on types of furniture (Restoration Hardware for example) and find people selling those items.
  • Join groups that offer swaps and free items. Here you can find anything from your next restoration project to a bed frame (and everything in between).

4: Garage & Estate Sales: People love going to these. It offers second-hand furniture and decor at bargain prices.

  • You would have to have cash on you to purchase.
  • Prices are often negotiable, so don't be afraid to offer a lower price!!

7. Homesense: Homesense is known for affordable home decor, furniture, and rugs. You can also find cute holiday decor here.

  • With the prices already great, you know you’re getting a deal. Many of the items I find at Homesense are similar to those sold on Amazon.. You can do some comparison shopping, but usually, Homesense has better pricing.
  • Always look in the clearance section first. With new inventory coming in frequently, they will sometimes have THE SAME item on discount as they do at their regular price. I inquired and was told that it must have been an “old” shipment.
  • You get to see and touch items which is great compared to Amazon.

8. TJ Maxx: TJ Maxx is owned by the same parent company as Marshalls (listed below) and Homesense, it has a small section of home goods and decor to find.

  • This is another great place to grab holiday decor that is unique and priced well.
  • TJ Maxx carries similar items to both Marshalls and Homesense, so you just need to determine which one is closest.

9. Marshalls: This is the last in the trio from the same company. Marshalls offers everything from glassware to holiday decor.

  • It's a perfect spot to find candles.
  • Like with TJ Maxx and Homesense, go back frequently because inventory is quick to change. That also means that if you like something, get it. It may not be there the next time you go.
