Quick and Easy Air Fryer Chicken Cutlets: A Healthy Chicken Cutlet Recipe
This post is a recipe is a healthy chicken cutlet recipe you’ll love.
This recipe is quick, easy, and delicious. If you love chicken cutlets but are trying to cut down on fried food, this is a great air-fried chicken cutlet recipe that the family is sure to love. I do add a spray of avocado oil to give it the texture that we love on cutlets, but I’m not submerging my chicken into a bath of vegetable oil.
I’ve been making this recipe for over a year, and my husband and daughter love to eat the chicken cutlets as a snack!
If you decide to make these, I suggest making a bigger batch. They’re delicious as a stand-alone with a few yummy sides, but you can also top them with different things to dress up your cutlets. If you’re looking for a healthy, delicious, and quick way to dress up your cutlets, try the bruschetta chicken recipe here.
While I will add measurements, I have to confess that I’m usually not so precise.
Preparation for Air-Fryer Chicken Cutlets
I don’t know about you, but when I get my chicken from the store, it’s way too thick to cook evenly. For this reason, I would highly suggest slicing the chicken thin. You can slice them in half or thirds depending on how thick the original breast is.
Once this is done, you should season your chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder directly. Allow it to sit on the chicken while the chicken comes closer to room temperature. I find that when I let my chicken sit, flavored for thirty minutes, the cooking is more even.
While you have the chicken coming to room temperature, you should make your breading mixture.
Place your eggs and milk in a bowl and whisk it until it’s blended.
Then prep your flour which will coat the chicken before you use the egg mixture.
Here, I suggest using a plastic bag because it is messy! When you’re done, you can just toss the remaining flour mixture in the garbage with no need to clean a bowl.
My last “station” that I set up consists of laying wax paper down and having my trusty avocado oil spray bottle ready. Once I’ve coated my chicken, I lay it down and give it a quick spray of oil so that the outside gets that delicious brown crusty look and taste.
Using my air fryer, I set it to 350 degrees on the air fry setting and get to work.

Quick and Easy Air Fried Chicken Cutlets
Equipment
- Air Fryer
- tongs
- gallon size plastic bag optional, but it makes cleanup so much easier
- bowl To bread the cutlets
Ingredients
- 3 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast, sliced thin makes extra for more meals
- 3 eggs
- ¼ cup milk any milk, I use 2%
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ¾ cups mixture Italian seasoning & Panko breadcrumbs You could do all of one, but I like the flavor and the crunch combined
- ⅔ cup parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp oregano
- salt & pepper To season your chicken
- Avocado spray Olive Oil works well, too
Instructions
- Start the air fryer. Set it on air fryer mode and adjust the temperature to 350 °F
- If your chicken is already sliced thin, salt, pepper, and garlic your chicken and set it aside. Allow it to come down to room temperature
- Assemble your workstation: Put the flour in the ziploc bag, get a wide bowl and beat your eggs and milk together, put the breadcrumbs, parmesan, and italian seasoning together in a separate bowl. I also like to put down wax paper where I can spray the breaded cutlets before going into the air fryer.
- If you want to make it easy, set up your bowls and bag in a line: Ziploc bag, egg and milk bow, breadcrumb/parmesan bowl, wax paper, then air fryer. Now it's time to get to work!
- First, place a few cutlets into the bag of flour and shake them around. Make sure that it is fully coated.
- Using tongs or a fork, remove them from the bag and dip them into the egg mixture, once coated, place them into the breading. Be sure to get and even coating. Lastly, place them on the wax paper and give them an even spray of avocado oil. Put them into the fryer.
- Put in only a few cutlets at a time to allow for air circulation. After 5 minutes, turn them and spray the other side with avocado oil (if you didn't do so one the wax paper). Leave them in the airy fryer until fully cooked (for me it's another 10 minutes).
