Transform the Home into a Sanctuary
If Mom needs time to herself, why not create a space just for that? The overall goal is to create a relaxing, inviting space for Mom to get some quality time to decompress. Designate a space that is all about Mom for the day and make it beautiful as well as relaxing.
Decorate with her favorite flowers and place candles around the room for soft lighting. Place a tray of chocolate-covered strawberries or her favorite snack on a beautiful plate and leave it near what will be her spot for the day.

Create a comfy nook for Mom to relax and read.
Whether she plans on reading a favorite book or binging on Netflix, creating a cozy spot will be much appreciated. Dress it with pillows and a blanket and leave her to relax, but check in sporadically to see if she needs anything.

Plan a Homemade Pampering Spa Day
With a little pre-planning, this could be the refresh Mom needs. Gather pampering supplies, and set up her bedroom as a relaxing oasis for the day. I promise that mom will love this!
Supplies can include:
- Massage oils
- Bath salts
- Candles
- Flowers
- Face masks
- Eye masks
- Headband, robe, and slippers

Create a simple DIY spa day for Mom.
Create a printed schedule that includes either a back rub, foot rub, or both! Then, apply eye and face masks while listening to relaxing music. Lastly, a bath with essential oils, baking soda, and bath salts for her to finish off the treatment.
This is a perfect way to help Mom relax! If you want, this can be the first part of Mom’s day!
Make A Culinary Treat
I love it when my kids do this. Either choose to make a special breakfast that can be served in bed, cook a gourmet lunch, or a formal dinner! Don’t forget to include her favorite dessert!
This is the perfect occasion to break out the formal plates if you’re looking to celebrate Mom. Dress the table nicely, and insist that she remain a guest. Mom shouldn’t lift a finger to clean up! We all know that’s a gift in itself!

Celebrate Mom with a special breakfast.
Beyond relaxation and delicious food, Mother’s Day is about cherishing time together. Here are some ideas to create lasting memories as a family.
Create Lasting Memories
There’s nothing Mom wants more than to be with her family! Plan activities at home that bring the family together.
It’s the perfect opportunity to play board games (Clue is one of our favorites) or card games with snacks.
It’s also the perfect time to pull out old photo albums, or screenshare onto your television and watch old videos or look at photos that way. We love to do this! It makes for the perfect time to share stories and relive cherished memories together.

Movie Night!
A movie marathon is another great option. Whether it’s her favorite movies or movies you used to watch when you were younger, spending time together cuddled on the couch is sure to make her happy.

Take Your Mother’s Day Celebration Outdoors
The beautiful weather is on its way, so why not take your celebration outdoors? This seems to be a popular way for many mothers to spend Mother’s Day if you look at every hardware parking lot on Mother’s Day. Families are there finding flowers to plant. But that’s not the only way you can celebrate Mom outside.
Make use of what you already have in one of the following ways:
- A garden picnic or tea party: Grab a throw and pack a wonderful basket filled with sandwiches, drinks, and snacks. Set up some lawn games to bring entertainment.
- A backyard barbecue or bonfire: Bring the family together with a bbq where mom does nothing but relax and get served! Finish it off with some s’mores over a little fire and laughter.
- Plant flowers together: like I said above, so many moms love to get the yard beautiful in the spring.

Mom’s Celebration at Home
No matter how you choose to celebrate, the most important gift is quality time together. After all, Mother’s Day isn’t about expensive presents—it’s about making her feel cherished, valued, and truly special in the home she has filled with love. So, whether it’s a cozy movie night, a homemade spa experience, or a backyard gathering, make this Mother’s Day one she will remember and treasure forever.
