Use Canva's templates to create a personal yearbook.

  1. Create a Yearbook: Before your event, ask guests to send pictures of the graduate (with or without others) to you. Then, use Canva to create a yearbook. Canva offers downloads and printing options. Have the yearbook printed before your party, and have guests sign it!
  1. Pool Party: If you have a pool, host a refreshing pool party with water games and floats.
  1. Photo Night (Disposable Camera app): If any of you are old enough to remember going to weddings with disposable cameras on the table, you may love this idea. It’s got those vibes.

I came across an app called POV. It is essentially an app that tries to replicate that community-come-together-and-share-photos feeling.  The best part? Guests don’t need to download the app to share photos! You can even display them live on a big screen during the event or send them later as a thank-you.

  1. Future Goals Wishing Tree: Grab a few branches and fashion them into looking like a tree where guests can share their hopes for the future graduate.

As each guest enters the party, give them little pieces of paper tied to ribbons and markers to write down wishes for the graduate's future.  Once the guests write down what they want to say to the graduate, they can tie the papers to a tree.

Graduation Ideas for Food

  1. Bonfire and S'mores: Even if it’s hot out, there’s nothing better than a bonfire after hours during a summer night. Gathering around a bonfire to roast marshmallows and make s'mores is a sweet way to come together.
  2. Ice Cream Sundae Bar: A nice way to end your event, having a variety of ice cream flavors, toppings, and sauces set up on a long table makes all guests excited to create their delicious sundaes.

  1. Yard Games: If you plan on having your party outdoors, it’s perfect for yard games. Include games like cornhole, giant Jenga, KanJam, and Spikeball are popular with kids and adults alike. When I host my spring BBQ, all of the games above are in constant use.
  2. Icebreaker Bingo: Create randomized cards of 25 boxes. Write 24 colleges inside the boxes (with the middlebox being bingo).  It works best with colleges that you KNOW your attendees have gone to.

Winners need to get all 5 spaces signed by people horizontally, vertically, or                 diagonally. The name can only be written down if you talk to the person.

Whoever wins can get a prize. Gift cards are perfect for this.

  1. School Photo Timeline: Those cherished school photos will finally get a fun use!" Take the school pictures from all of the years (kindergarten to senior year) and make enough copies for all your guests; it’s best to use a wallet-size photo. Then, make a timeline of boxes- you can label them with each of the years. At each table, have gluesticks so that the guests can clue their guesses onto the paper.

After you reveal the correct order, see who got it right. Want to offer prizes?

  1. Silent Communication: Without talking, your guests must line up by the year they graduated from newest to oldest. Your graduate should be the first in the line! Then, everyone lines up working backward. This

Get as many of your guests involved and see how far you can go!

  1. Guess Who Game: Ask aunts, uncles, grandmas, grandpas, older neighbors and guests if they can take a picture of their yearbook photo. It doesn’t have to be a perfect photo; they can simply use their phones to take it.

Then, try to have people guess who is in the photo.

If you don’t want to ask your guests for photos, try creating trivia questions that include the school name and year of graduation.
