Inexpensive Home Organization Ideas: Budget-Friendly Tips for a Tidy Home
This post is about budget-friendly tips for inexpensive home organization. These tips are easy to implement and fit any budget.
Home organization is basically therapy for me! I can get lost in shorts and reels of spirited women taking a messy closet and transforming it with specific boxes and inserts that maintain the chaos of our filled closets and cabinets.
But it can get expensive!
If that’s in your budget, then make it happen! But, don’t get discouraged if you can’t afford all the fancy organization tools out there.
There is no reason why you can’t still get the same benefits of saving time and reducing the stress of trying to find something. Once you’ve created a home for your clutter, you no longer have clutter- you have efficiently used space.
Here are some practical and inexpensive tips for wrangling in your chaos: if your budget doesn’t allow for more expensive organization, you can still put it together.
Inexpensive Home Organization: Kitchen Organization Ideas
Don’t let your silverware go rogue in a drawer. Keeping dividers in your drawers for things like silverware, spatulas, and servingware will make your kitchen easier to use!
If your budget is limited, shop at Dollar Tree and find something that helps you wrangle your drawers together.
Try Rev-a-shelf products if you have a little more to spend (see image below). When I redid my kitchen, I didn’t have the budget to upgrade to drawer inserts that come with the cabinets, but I did go on Amazon and find wooden drawer organizers. You cut them to your specs (I cut them slightly smaller so that I could remove them to clean them). They look like they came with the drawers, but they are at least half the price.
Pantry organization videos on TikToc and Instagram can make you swoon and wish that you were a bit more organized, but it’s expensive to unify your storage to be that visually appealing, but it doesn’t have to be. You shouldn’t have to break the bank to organize your pantry (if you want a more in-depth look at how you can organize your cabinets for a more efficient flow in your kitchen, read here).
Stores like Dollar Tree or Marshalls can offer solutions. I went to Ikea and found containers to hold my dry goods, but I’ve also been creative and love using mason jars in my cabinets, as well. Walmart always has amazing prices on mason jars!
Bedroom and Closet Organization Ideas
If you have a house that has limited closet space, it’s time to get creative!
Small bedroom storage is a common problem. Choosing furniture that offers more cabinet space can help you organize everything you own, but it’s not the only creative way to keep your bedrooms tidy!
Don’t overlook the space under your bed; it’s a perfect location to hold off-season clothes, shoes, or even items that you don’t need often, like extra blankets or wrapping paper.
For smaller items, like jewelry, you can get beautiful jewelry organizers that sit on top of your dresser or even a mirror that opens and stores your accessories.
Living Room and Entryway Organization Ideas
If there is one thing that drives me crazy, it’s the amount of shoes that my family leaves thrown all over the floor. I honestly didn’t realize my daughter had so many pairs of sneakers!
The main hallway closet space is limited and used to be a pile of shoes. Finding a pair could take forever, but I measured the space and searched Amazon using the dimensions of the closet. There, I found a shoe organizer that has helped so much!
Deciding on furniture in these spaces that provide extra storage is a must! When looking for my entryway table, I selected one that was deep enough to hold shoes if I needed the space, and I bought baskets to go inside. This keeps the cabinet organized and useful.
Use Baskets to Tidy Up Clutter Quickly
Baskets can be used to declutter your living room as well as add to your decor. Placing one by the door or at the fireplace can be a perfect spot to deposit toys, blankets, or whatever else you want to keep out of your sight. Marshalls has always been a great place to find storage baskets that are reasonably priced.
Add containers to your coffee table or entryway table.
You aren’t limited to your cabinets; adding boxes or closed jars in your decor can provide the added value of hiding remotes, loose change, or small things your kids leave lying around.
Bathroom Organization Ideas
The bathroom is one of those spaces that never feels spacious enough, so being strategic can make all the difference.
Don’t forget about your counter space. Bathroom counter organization of your most commonly used items keeps them within arm’s reach when you’re getting ready.
Using jars and containers for items like hair ties, q-tips, and cotton rounds makes life easier. You can corral your items on a small tray and make it look like it’s part of your bathroom design.
Hooks on the inside of your cabinets can hold items like brushes or small towels while adding pull-out organizers can maximize the utilization of your cabinet space.
Baskets can also be added for function and design, holding towels or toilet paper while making the bathroom feel more textured and intentional.
